'I accompanied my mother for an out patient procedure at his office - trial implant of a spinal chord stimulator. He nicked her spinal chord - she is in worse shape than before the procedure. 8+ days in the hospital, 3+ weeks in a nursing home for uncontolled muscle spasms & severe nerve pain. The disturbing part was that he claimed he had never seen the symptoms she had as a result of his mis-step & had her loaded into a wheel chair & wisked out the back door of his office instead of admitting she needed to go to the hospital. All I did was google uncontrollable muscle spasms & everything pointed to spinal chord injuries. He told her to go home & rest- a few house & she would be fine. We instead went to a hospital where emergency personnel struggled to control the pain. His office was aware of her hospitalization & made no effort to assist or follow up. Very unprofessional.'

This patient's experience at our clinic was not at all what was described. While it would be unethical and a HIPPA violation for me or any doctor to speak about their patients directly. I can say I personally spoke with this patient to discuss her condition before and after the procedure. This patient's family member's perception of the situation is factually incorrect. The procedure went entirely as planned with no complications. Afterward the patient thanked me for taking care of her. She was very positive and gracious about the care she received in trying to treat her chronic pain. This patient was not able to care for them self at home due to chronic pain, extreme age, and other severe medical conditions. We always follow up with phone calls. I spoke with her after the procedure personally. Again, the facts are simply incorrect here.

To RateMD Staff - It is highly unprofessional for any so called "doctor rating site" to allow someone who never received medical service to comment on the medical service. What type of site allows a post from a non patient? By comparison can you imagine a restaurant review site allowing someone to post a review of the food by watching people eat and without ever actually eating there themselves? I have flagged this as inappropriate and yet you will not remove it. Please consider changing your name to "RateMD-I-never-saw.com"
