Did anyone ever experience (IMPORTANT)
side effects when using Advair? And if so what kind? Did you use it once a day, twice a day? and If so did you stop or cut back on dosage? Did you cut down on using it every day to every other day?

Advair is meant to be used
Advair is meant to be used twice a day.
If the directions aren't followed, it will not be as effective, or not effective at all.
This will likely result in exacerbations of asthma.
I asked my doctor yesterday
I asked my doctor yesterday morning if I can use it once a day and he said that I can, that many people use it once a day.

To the best of my knowledge, using this medication in such a fashion is something known as "off label use". This
means that there is no data to support using Advair in such a manner.
Whenever I prescribe this medication, I always recommend it be used twice a day.

Folks using Advair have the
Folks using Advair have the unfortunate adverse reaction of increased mortality risk.
That's not entirely accurate.

Chris is correct, on all
Chris is correct, on all counts.
“Long-acting beta2-adrenergic
“Long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists (LABAs), such as salmeterol, one of the active ingredients in Advair Diskus®, increase the risk of asthma-related death. Data from a large placebo-controlled US study that compared the safety of salmeterol (SEREVENT®showed an increase in asthma-related deaths in patients receiving salmeterol ………..”

To further evaluate the safety of Long-Acting Beta-Agonists (LABAs) when used in combination with inhaled corticosteroids for the treatment of asthma, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requiring the manufacturers of LABAs to conduct five randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trials comparing the addition of LABAs to inhaled corticosteroids versus inhaled corticosteroids alone.
The clinical trials will begin in 2011 and FDA expects to receive results in 2017.

While the drugs[Advair} can reduce the number of asthma attacks, they can make asthma attacks worse when they do occur.
In clinical trials, there were more asthma deaths in patients taking salmeterol than in patients taking an inactive placebo. However, the total number of asthma-related deaths was small -- 13 deaths in 13,176 patients who took salmeterol for seven months.

I'm not a doctor of medicine,
I'm not a doctor of medicine, so I need to tread carefully here. It is
my understanding that the relationship between these drugs and some deaths, still remains unclear.
This could be said of many studies. My idea of a great study is 20,000 people in 10 countries, over
a period of 10 years...
Take a look at Chris's language:
"...is meant to be..."
"...that's not entirely accurate..."
"...to the best of my knowledge..."
"...this will likely result..."

I’m not a doctor of medicine either, but I am capable of independent thinking and formulating my own opinions when given all the information.
I believe that is all MCF was trying to do.
I am very familiar with Chris’s language:
“Nananana boo boo stick your head in doo doo.”

Oh no, LOL! That took me a minute!

Did you really think I would tell you to stick your head in doo doo, O2P?
It’s not a phrase I was familiar with. I'm not that hip.
Not that I am above such a thing; it’s just that I have my own phrases, timeless and just as effective.

I agree. Maybe these deaths
I agree. Maybe these deaths happened because these people were not taking the Advair the way they were supposed to. Advair is used for breathing problems and if not taken right the person could have more breathing problems. I dont believe Advair causes death.
That's never been the claim.
That's never been the claim. All drugs have both benefits and risks and increased mortality is a risk of Advair.
It could be due to adrenal suppression and reduced immunity. My immunologist thinks that chronic administration of inhaled and/or nasal steroids is malpractice if used long term without allergic desensitization to reduce or eliminate the need for them.
