Can Maxalt show as benzo in a drugscreen

Hi. Ive had recent surgery (ACDF) and currently take Lortab for pain. I took a drugscreen and it tested positive or benzo's. I havent taken any benzo's. I have taken Maxalt for migraines and phenergan for the nausea r/t the migraine. Can either of those show a false positive for a benzo? Im at a wits end trying to figure out how it showed positive when I havent taken any. The doc said that Maxalt can show up as benzo, but I cant find anything on the internet stating this. Just wondering if anyone on here would know. Thanks.

my bet is on the phenegran.

I take both too, and I agree. Chris would probably know for sure.

Yes to Phenergan,

Yes to Phenergan, Nursenurse.....

I believe the phenergan may

I believe the phenergan may cause a false positive here.

What you may want to do is this:

1. Bring in some literature showing that Phenergan can cause a false positive.

2. Request that your sample be sent for more specific analysis. In particular, a urine drug screen with opioid breakdown.

This is a gas chromatographic analysis, which actually takes a more detailed look. This test will not result
in a false positive, and result in a true negative and thus prove your innocence (if you haven't taken benzos).

If you don't have insurance, you will likely have to pay for this test (no idea how much $ ).

Just curious: was this a work

Just curious: was this a work related drug screen?

I ask, as I believe some work place drug screens may not perform follow up gas chromatographic analysis for cost reasons.

If this is the case, I believe it is within your rights to request that this test be performed to rule out a false positive.

You should get your union involved if there is a problem here.

Chris, I guess you didn't realize that this thread was started about a year ago. By now this is probably a non-issue.

Because someone brought it up when they posted spam. The spam was deleted but the thread stayed up at the top.
