what exactly happened with your child's teeth?

We guarantee our work and repairs for years for our patients who maintain their oral health with regular annual and bi-annual hygiene “cleaning” appointments and dental exams.

Sometimes time can pass quickly and the necessary preventive maintenance of the health of teeth, gums and existing dentistry is neglected. If the daily oral home care of a child (brushing twice a day and flossing once a day) is neglected for a few months to a year it is possible to have surprising amounts of secondary decay under fillings or to lose the fillings/teeth entirely due to decay. In this case it would be possible to have to replace existing restorations and/or have new decay or infection/abscesses associated with teeth previously filled.

The best medicine is Preventive Dentistry and the Standard of Care is to have your child seen by the Dentist and Hygienist every six months in order to examine the teeth to prevent future decay and preserve the integrity of any dental restorations. In this way we avoid any dental surprises as children’s teeth can decay very quickly compared to adult teeth (children’s enamel is much thinner than an adult tooth’s enamel layer) and children do not have the manual dexterity to care for their teeth adequately until the age of 7-8 yrs.
